Surplus PV generation can charge storage heaters, domestic hot-water tanks, heating buffer tanks or material-based thermal stores.<\/p>\n<p>For homes and smaller facilities, we are preparing systems with electrical charging power around 5 kW as well as individually sized installations. When power is required, water or a solid weight moves down and returns part of the stored energy through a turbine or generator.<\/p>\n<p>For sloping sites with suitable water management, we assess small closed-loop pumped-storage systems using two reservoirs at different elevations. Mechanically raising a solid mass is another possible approach. During discharge, the same machine operates as a generator. High-speed designs use a vacuum enclosure and magnetic bearings to reduce friction and operating losses.<\/p>\n<p>The technology is well suited to very frequent cycles, rapid power peaks, voltage and frequency support, regenerative loads and short outage bridging.
